Figure out what your company should build around

Strategic advantages are the strengths, systems, assets, and capabilities that increase your odds of winning.

This module helps you identify the advantages your strategy should intentionally build around so you can make clearer growth decisions and avoid spreading resources too thin.

It can be used on its own, or as part of the Growth Decisions Canvas — a system that helps growth companies make clearer, more profitable decisions.

Step 1: Reflect on your strategic advantages

Brainstorm the strengths, systems, assets, and capabilities that already give your company leverage.

Reflection Questions

Instructions

Review the reflection questions and identify possible strengths, systems, assets, or capabilities your company already has leverage around.

Don’t worry about wording yet. The goal is simply to capture potential strategic advantages as they come to mind.

Once you have several strong ideas, move to Step 2 and refine the strongest ones.

Step 2: Refine the advantages worth building around
